Certain frame shapes are particularly suited to certain face shapes. Although there are no strict rules here are a few guidelines that our Opticians have provided:

ROUND FACE
Individuals with a round face tend to suit angular frames, in particular, straight lines. This provides the face with definition. Having narrow frames also prevents exaggeration to the round shape of the face. Round or large frame shapes are less suitable as they will accentuate the round shape of the face.

SQUARE FACE
A curved or oval shaped frame will be advised in this case. Thin and rectangular frames should be avoided if an individual has a square face.

OBLONG FACE
Frames should be chosen to cover as much of the centre of the face as possible so that the length is minimised.

OVAL FACE
Individuals with an oval face will suit most frames.

TRIANGULAR FACE
In this category individuals tend to have a wide forehead and a narrow chin. Frames that are thin, rimless or semi-rimless are advised here in order to balance the lower half of the face. Try to keep away from large frames plus square shaped frames.

Try not to choose frames that mimic the shape of your face – so ideally the frame should contrast with face shape.
